Understanding Recording Statuses and the Video Lifecycle

What uploading, processing, ready, and failed mean—and what to do when a recording seems stuck.

When you finish recording or select a file to upload, the item enters an uploading state. Data is sent to secure storage in segments. If upload pauses, check your connection and keep the browser session active until progress completes.

Processing means the platform is preparing the asset for playback: transcoding, generating thumbnails, and validating integrity. During this phase the recording is not yet shareable. Length and resolution affect duration; avoid refreshing repeatedly unless the status has not changed for an unusually long time.

Ready indicates the video is fully available. You can play it, copy links, and manage permissions. This is the normal end state for successful uploads. Failed means an error occurred during upload or processing—common causes include network interruption, unsupported formats, or exceeding plan limits.

If a recording fails, note the error message, retry upload when appropriate, and contact support with the recording ID if problems persist. Understanding statuses helps teams set realistic expectations with stakeholders and reduces duplicate support requests.
